How to Edit Youtube Videos for Free

To get your hands dirty and start editing right away, one place to start is right on YouTube. It has a very simple and free online editor designed by YouTube Studio for its creators. If you're a beginner, it's a good way to see how basic video editing works.

How to Edit With the YouTube Studio Video Editor

Step 1: Sign in to YouTube Studio

Step 2: Open "Content" and upload videos

Step 3: Select a video and open "Editor"

Step 4: Edit video with trim and split

Step 5: Add an "End Scene"

First step: Sign in to YouTube Studio

First, you'll have to sign-in to YouTube Studio with your Google account. Once you sign in, go to the left sidebar.

Second step: Open "Content" and upload videos

Here you'll find the "Content" option; click on it. Click on the thumbnail of your uploaded video. If you haven't done this yet, first go to the "Upload" option and pick a video from your computer or any other device you're using to edit.

Wait for a few minutes as the video is uploading to YouTube. Once it is uploaded click on the video to open "Video details"

Third step: Select a video and open "Editor"

In the left sidebar, you'll see the "Editor" option, click on it. It will open the YouTube Studio video editing suite. Here, you can start customizing your videos.

Fourth step: Edit video with trim and split

First, begin with video trimming. You can choose this option if you want to eliminate unnecessary scenes from your video or want to make it clear and concise.

Select the "Trim" option, it is right above the timeline panel, and next to the video's time. Here, a blue and white line is provided to chop off the parts you don't want to see in your videos.

Drag the beginning or end part if you don't want to include the beginning or end portion. However, if you're going to eliminate the specific clips disturbing the middle portion of the video, then use the "Split" option.

Once you've successfully cut the unwanted portion of your video, check out the final version by watching the "Preview" of the video. If you find everything right in your Edited Video, click on "Save" and go for the next step.

Fifth step: Add an "End Scene"

To encourage viewers to stay on your YouTube Channel use "End Screen" in your video.
Through this option, you can add related videos, playlist, and ask viewers to subscribe to your YouTube channel after the end of your video.

Click on the "+" to "Add Element" on the "End scene" track. Find it on the bottom left of the timeline panel. Then select the kind of element you would like to add.

Sixth step: Save your edit

Save the edit, and you're ready to go!

2. If you shoot on a phone and want to edit on your phone, you will want to use your mobile editing app to select the clips from your phone's memory and import them into your editing project.
• Get Organized: Once you have your clips imported we suggest reviewing each one and renaming them to help identify them easily when editing. • Color correction: Depending on your project or how you shot, you may want to adjust the color of your clips. Consider white balance, color matching between clips, and any stylistic color you might want to add.


• Go beyond the basics: Time to do a little more than cutting together video clips. Next, you'll add transitions, titles, graphics, and effects. Drop in some music, too, and try out some sound effects. Here you can also use tools to fix shaky video or clean up any sound issues.


• Mix your sound: Make sure your sound levels are balanced. At this time you'll want to raise or lower any dialogue, voiceover, or music so the soundtrack is balanced and you can easily hear the most important parts.

1. Import Your Media Files

The first step of any project is importing your photos and videos into PowerDirector.

2. Add Media Files to the Video Timeline

Open PowerDirector 365 and on the launch screen select "Full Mode." Click the button and select "Import Media Folder" to import your media files. Browse to the folder on your computer that contains your media files, select it, and click "Select Folder" to import all the folder's contents. All your media files in the folder will be imported into the PowerDirector media library. Once you have your media files in the media library, you can begin putting your video together by adding your photos and videos to the video timeline. 5. Add Title Text

Adding title text helps to capture the attention of your audience and increase the overall appeal of your video. Let's add some text to the video.

Go to the "Title Room". Click and drag a title text template to the title track on the video timeline. Select the added title template and then click the "Designer" button above the video timeline. In the "Title Designer," enter in the text you want to use. Select the text, click on the "Character Presets" option on the left, and then select a preset to modify the text. Click "OK" to close the Title Designer and save your changes.

6. Adding Music

7. How to Produce and Upload to YouTube

That is it…you've learned the basics of creating your first video. It's time to render your video project (produce) as a new video file.

Click on the "Produce" button to export your video. On the Standard 2D tab, select your preferred video format. We suggest going with the H.264 AVC option (with the MP4 file extension), as it is one of the most popular and accepted formats. Select an output folder where the new video file will be saved then click the "Start" button to produce the file.
